First Sample

Alright for those of you looking forward to reading Carnevale your wait will not be much longer. Here is the third page from the first chapter.

Its been a long journey but we are almost at the point were we’ll start publishing pages. I’ll give you the whole scoop on how this all came together in a week or so, but for now enjoy this teaser.

Mr. Preston

So most people may know that Carnevale owes part of its creation a Mr. Tom Preston. So the artist finally asked me if I wanted to throw any random cameos for a crowd shot, so obviously I requested a Preston cameo, here’s the quick design for him.

I’m also working with an artist again for Issue 2 of Pulp so look forward to that in about 3 weeks.

Right now the artist is working on inking and coloring, so expect more stuff soon.

Excuse me for the off topic.

So in case you haven’t heard already, it seems that Cartoon Network’s April Fools Joke is trolling that they might bring back Toonami. Honestly April fools day joke or not, I want to believe so I’m encouraging everyone to send them feedback and ask for them to bring it back.

Streamtime with Rob

So Carnevale is now in full production tilt. I know the artist streaming his work on the comic. I’m not sure what his precise schedule is, but I think he plans on livestreaming  his work on the comic at least each evening this week starting like 5:30-6:00 EST.

Here’s something he was working on yesterday.

The Making of Lover’s Knight

So we’re at a bit of a quiet before the storm for Carnevale, so I decided to show you the process that goes into making the comic which featured in Issue one of Pulp. If you haven’t read it yet, read my previous post.

This script actually came out of a dream I had on night, I woke up with the whole story in my head and wrote the whole thing down before breakfast. I usually start by writing a 1-2 paragraph summary of the comic, and when I realize that I’m starting to describe panels I move into a script which looks like this.

The artist then gave me the “super rough” to make sure that we are on the same page. To make sure the comic looks the way I had intended. He obviously made a few improvements and took a couple liberties, but that’s why I’m a writer and not an artist.

Then the artist does their rough which they work off of for the actual comic.

And from there I assume he made various soul-contracts with computer art devils or trained on a mountain top with an art wizard, because the final project was gorgeous.

I’ve got another script in the works for issue 2 of Pulp, and we should have more Carnevale stuff coming real soon.

Also to like the dozen new followers I picked up last week somehow, Hi.

Pulp!

So its official something productive and awesome has come out of /co/ In the form of Pulp! /co/mic-writers @ rizon just released our very first comic magazine which you can peruse at your leisure.

You can find the link to download it at http://premierpulp.wordpress.com/

If you’re confused on how to deal with a .cbr file, they can be opened with WinRar/7zip

The comic I wrote for Pulp is Lover’s Knight, which is featured first so you don’t to read anymore of the shitty comics in the magazine so make sure you read that thing front to back because there are some amazing comics in there. I’ll ask the artist who collaborated with me on it if its okay to post some of the roughs so you guys can see the process the comic went through.

More Carnevale stuff coming real soon.

Some More Storyboards

Sorry I haven’t updated in a couple week, I was busy with school and the artist was busy doing art things. So I felt like I should show you some.

Here’s just a little snippet from the first few pages. One thing the artist has been trying to do with the costume design for the comic is to take ideas and styles from actual Venetian Costumers. For example this little side character was inspired by an image that he and I dubbed “I am the sun”

Merry Sexmas

I hope everyone is has a wonderful Valentines Day, I’m spending it watching movies with /ck/. This is just something I asked the artist to whip up quickly for you guys, he’s spending a lot of his time this week story boarding so expect more stuff real soon.
